System == Sony Vaio Lap-Top model PCG-GRX570 Video == ATI RADEON 7500 MOBILITY OS = RED HAT LINUX 7.2 kernal 2.4.7-10 I downloaded XFree86 4.2.. I ran Xinstall.sh -check and it told me to download binary Linux-ix86-glibc22.. Everything seems to install correctly but when I run XFree86 -configure .. I get the following error.. Could not load the shared library file for Glide: libglide2x.so When I look in /usr/lib .. I dont have a file called libglide2x.so but I do have a file called libglide3x.so So I defined the following symbolic Link.. ln -s /usr/lib/libglide3x.so /usr/X11R6/lib/modules Or course it didn't work..
