Matrox Graphic Array Hardware Abstraction Layer, I believe.

I believe that for some reason (probably a bug, it's not likely this
case has ever been tested before) the two graphic cards are just not
being recognized correctly, so the Hardware Abstraction Layer for that
type of card doesn't get loaded, so it's unable to operate the cards
properly.

I notice the "compiled for 4.0.3" in your log.  Have you tried the
current release, 4.2.0?  There's a small chance that someone else has
found and fixed the problem since 4.0.3.  If that doesn't work you might
try the Xpert list.

Keep in mind I'm just guessing here.  I have no knowledge of multiple
heads, or Matrox cards, or video driver internals.  But nobody else has
responded, so....
