Documenting source of Indonesia regulatory updates. Luis ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Michael Green <Michael.Green@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, Aug 4, 2010 at 8:33 AM Subject: 5 GHz band utilization (802.11a) is finally allowable in Indonesia To: "Luis R. Rodriguez" <mcgrof at gmail.com> Hi Luis, Can you pls help write a patch for Indonesia. To be honest, I have not looked at what?s in your sw now but assume it?s outdated. Latest rules are: RD: APL2_World 5GHz: 11a center frequencies: 5745, 5765, 5785, 5805 11n HT20 & HT40: Not allowed in 5GHz 2.4GHz 11bg: 1-13 allowed 11n HT20 & HT40 Allowed in 2.4GHz 5GHz: For power levels, not sure what to put. ATHR sets 23dBm for uniformity. But the rules state 36dBm is allowable. So lets subtract max gain ant of 6dBi which yields 30dBm conducted tx power. That should be reasonable to use in sw. It is highly doubtful any device would pass Indonesia regulatory tests at that level. So 30dBm is a reasonable upper limit to put in sw. 2.4GHz: Same power level as currently in sw. Summary : 1. Only 20MHz BW is allowed @ 5.8GHz since regulation says so. 2. Both 20MHz and 40MHz are OK since there is no restriction about this in 2.4GHz regulation. However your assumption was right, that since there are no restriction on modulation for 2.4 GHz in the regulation then both 20 and 40 MHz is allowable in Indonesia. -- -- Customer Division TEKNOKRAT INDONESIA 50/F Menara BCA, Jl. Unfortunately I can?t read Indonesian but I think I can find there is a mentioned about 5.8GHz only accept 20MHz in last page in 5.8GHz document. Can you please guide me where I can find the regulation state both 20MHz and 40MHz are accepted in 2.4GHz document? Or both are accepted due to no mention of restriction of Bandwidth in regulation? Thanks. Stanley Lin Atheros Communications, Inc. These 2 documents are actually the official directive of utilization of frequency 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz from Frequency Department in the regulator's office. Hopefully this could meet your expectation and please do not hesitate to contact us should you need more information. -- -- Customer Division TEKNOKRAT INDONESIA 50/F Menara BCA, Jl. M.H.
