Are writing your own extension? If you just want compile someone else's source, like from PEAR/PECL, you can just follow this: http://wiki.php.net/internals/windows/stepbystepbuild I believe you can do it the way you are trying, and I'm about to find out, because, although I've followed those instructions I'm pointing you to, I've got an extension (pdo_informix) that won't compile correctly.
