I would say RDBMS: Oracle. MSSQL could go fine too.
HW: SCSI (RAID: STRIPE + MIRROR for speed and reliability).
2-4G RAM. 2 XEON PROCS. This should do the job just perfect.

Hi @ everybody.

Ok, here is the thing!

  Just try to imaging, you have to save something
  like 4 - 5 Mio. Database entries (lengh could be
  between 10 and 16 char's.) and this every 5 min,
  for something like 2 weeks.

and here are my questions

  which database you would use?
  which hardware would be required?

  how big could be the database after the first
  4 - 5 mio entries?

if someone have a idee

please send me asap a feedback
