Thread-topic: Removing extra slashes from a path

I am passing a path value from a form input to a script.  For some reason, the path ends up with 2 slashes instead of one (which is the way i typed it in).  Any help would be appreciated.

Environment:
PHP 4.3.4
Windows2000 Pro
IIS 5.0
