I have created several web applications using PHP from around version 4.0. However a problem we are having recently, using Apache 1.3.2 and anything PHP 4.2 (CGI Version) + / Win2kServer, is that every so often the number of PHP instances in the process viewer starts to grow and they do not get released. The only way to release them is to manually kill them using a command line program such as 'kill.exe' or alternatively shut down the apache server and restart it. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so got any ideas on what to do to rectify it. Also is anyone aware of any programs that could monitor the PHP processes growing and send a signal to restart Apache.
