You probably should file a bug. Explain what you did to install, including winetricks, provide free download link, etc. The wine devs are definitely reading bug reports, yet it may take some time to get that bug fixed. Did it work in older wine versions? This didn't become quite clear from your first post. You may try to install some older wine versions and/or older Ubuntu (on another partition etc). If wbfs manager needs to install a driver, it may (not) work in wine regarding access to wii media, even if that bug gets fixed. There's hardly any support for windows drivers in wine, I'd really be astonished, if a driver installed by wbfs manager would work flawlessly. Either way, it still makes sense to file a bug, because the application shouldn't crash that way.
