I have a 1992 vintage box (25 MHz 68020) running OSK 2.4 and find that os9exec running on an 855MHz P3 is very much faster than the same code on its native hardware, though driving a green screen over a 9600 baud link must slow it down too. os9exec works pretty well internally but last time I used it there were issues with its screen handling.
