Intel is notoriously bad for producing high quality Linux video drivers. At the present time, nVidia leads the graphics battle for Linux use. AMD/ATI is a very far distant second and Intel is not even there.

Best thing to do: Get an current nVidia Graphics card and disable, if possible, the on-board Intel graphics unit.
