Not so fast.  I do this repeatedly.  Wine will 'update' data in your
Wine Prefix if it discovers that a newer installation is present or an
older one.

This is recommended ONLY if the program that 'used to run' does not
anymore.  Sometimes this will 'correct' the problem, sometimes not.

You can also hold onto it as a 'known good' archive in case you do
something and the program breaks.

It is recommended, for now, that you install one program in its own
Wine Prefix.  This is in case your new program does not work and
requires 'tweaks' that might break other program functioning.
