thanks qwertymn i now get the grid but there are supposed to be another window that opens up to allow you to choose rooms furnishings etc.Ill try installing a few more windows components.That grid without the menu window used to happen to me in windows 7 unless i clicked run in basic colour modeand i think i also had to click xp compatibility mode.
