DDO is one of the few games that will give an error for no GSM support being compiled in, though it isn't strictly required. But I found that voice chat does work better with it compiled in. What version of wine are you using? The distributions usually don't have the latest versions installed. Have you followed the appdb or the thread here: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=212618 ?
