yeah... you have to configure Wine so it has a clue how to handle the file type. If you install software that handles that file type it usually does it for you, but if there is no installer, you might have to manually set it up in the registry. How to do that manually isn't super simple to explain when I have no idea what type of program or file types you are using. You can probably do some web searching and find direction on how to make those registry entries.
