"stable" doesn't mean that it won't crash and the Dev will... it just is a stable code base with little to no changes, meaning its as is for a long time until its replaced by the next stable version. I honestly think they should change the terminology to "Release" and Development" versions and get rid of Stable, because it confuses everyone.. they don't want to run something thats unstable, so it one is stable, the other must crash a lot. the 1.3 devel branch has a lot of good fixes in it and is usually the best way to go.
