using the cd command is changing a directory... it won't do anything but make the working directory your in in that terminal session different. It won't say anything unless the folder doesn't exist, then it will give an error. The second command will list all the files it sees in the current folder your in (the one the previous command switched to). You need to find some info on how to use command line in Linux and get the basics down... this isn't a Wine issue.
