I downloaded the free TaxAct .exe file and installed it. I seem to recall that when I first tried to run it I received some error message and ignored it and then TaxAct came up. You can download Revo Uninstaller (also .exe file) and run that with the "deep uninstall" option and delete any register entries it finds associated with TaxAct - sometimes certain reg entries are left so as to determine if a program was installed and uninstalled before. I don't know if that is the case with TaxAct. I did see in your initial post that you installed a different TaxAct file (ta10dxdw.exe) - not sure what the difference is with that one vs the free version (ta10stdw.exe). If your version is a more comprehensive version than the free version, maybe loading the free running it and then installing the version you have may be sufficient.
