Re: Winetricks Problem

Thanks for your reply. I'm not convinced it would be easier to re-install WINE. I am running PCLinuxOS 2009, and they've shut down the '09 repository. I won't be able to get a WINE build for my system any more.

Besides, I would have to reinstall some things that were very difficult to install in the first place. Examples are Quicken which requires installation of several updates and same thing for Office 2000.

I saw someone reported my problem as a bug recently:

http://wine.1045685.n5.nabble.com/Bug-25850-New-Transparency-in-toolbar-icons-does-not-work-black-background-td3352799.html

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25850

They didn't add that it was something in winetricks that caused it. Don't know if it did on their system, but that might be another piece of the puzzle. They also included some screenshots in their bug report. They look a lot like mine.

Anayway, if someone can point me where to look, I'll be happy to poke around and see if I can find the cause. I just don't know where to start, and what would control the rendering of transparency.

I've got a sneaking suspicion though it might have been IE8. I uninstalled it, but I know it's not always possible to uninstall MS products. They sometimes leave little "updates" around.

So please give my problem just a few minutes of thought and let me know what you suspect.

I'm running on WINE 1.1.35. It's been a great product. There are some Win programs I can't do without. Without WINE, I would have not been able to migrate to Linux.

Thanks in advance.
