As you have to.  Java for Windows IS NOT Java for Linux.  There is no communications path between Wine and an external Java Runtime Engine and (for security purposes as well as other reasons) there should not be one.  Thus, unless you do a recompile of the Java application to run on Linux (it appears that it uses 'special' Windows coding and features) it will not run in a Linux JVM.  Thus you must install Sun Java in the Windows version in Wine to use the program.
