The AppDB howto for that appears to be outdated. The patch needed for battle.net was added in Wine 1.3.4; the most recent test rates it platinum for 1.3.10.

Wine changes rapidly; an app can go from garbage to platinum in one day. Before applying any tweaks, even ones in the AppDB, you should test your game in plain Wine using the latest development release to see if those tweaks are still needed.

If you do find a game that works in an older version of Wine and not in the latest, that's a regression. If that happens, you should run a regression test and file a bug. If you don't report a problem, don't complain if it never gets fixed.
