It shuts off when started

Distro is Ubuntu 10.10
I have tried on wine 1.2.1 and 1.3

I have successfully installed the two games on first try. Fallout 1 & 2.

But when I go to launch it shows the Please Stand by logo and than just disappears to desktop with no error.

I have tried emulate a desktop..and other suggestions I found lurking..but no luck.
