Are you running it from where CIV4 was installed like:
$HOME/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Civ4
If not, this may be why you receive a bunch of errors and then it quits.
Also, please go to the Civ 4 entry in the Applications Database. There
may be hints on how to run it from the Command Line in Linux.
