All the fixme's from AMCAP likely indicate where functionality is
missing... Whether that affects your specific app is hard to say...
(Lots of people are significantly better at reading Wine logs than
me...) (It might also be possible that installing a Windows DLL might
fix it, but finding the right one might need some guessing / good
knowledge of how DirectShow is put toghether)

(But getting Amcap to work might be easier (at least testing it should
be) and it might fix several other apps...)

(Amcap also crashes for me, but thanks to an Ubuntu "fix" my webcam
only works in xawtv under Linux (Ubuntu 9.04 and newer), and it
crashes (Linux) Skype, so it is not suitable for testing Wine webcam
support...)

This might be relevant: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11666
(Closed, which seem quite stupid for an easy to test and readily
available DirectShow SDK demo with source available...) (If Amcap
doesn't work other DirectShow apps are unlikely to work) (If you are
willing to test the app accationally, you might get it reopened..)
(Not sure what the relevant processes are)

Thanks Gert. I'll be willing to test the apps. I have icuii and iSpQ and both fail to activate the camera. Tell me what procedures to follow to test the apps and I'll do it. Please remember I'm a Newbie. You may want to get a more experienced user to do this. But I'm interested and will try things you suggest. Thanks. My native Skype works well with the camera in Ubuntu 10.04 and Fedora fc13 by the way. Bob
