Looks like another game ran into this http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12652 No idea what it's about, but that bug says you can continue past the error for a few minutes if you start it in winedbg and press 'c' for continue. (Though games usually refuse to start in debuggers.)
