Yeah, both Spore and Oblivion are popular enough that the rough edges will probably be smoothed off sometime... but who knows when. Try a platinum rated game (there are a bunch of downloadable free ones), once you have that working, try a gold rated game, once you have that working, try a silver rated game. And then come back to Oblivion and Spore and try following their recipes.
