Hey there, I've been trying to get tropico 3 to run on wine. My efforts so far have managed me to get to a point where I can get the main menu to work, but as soon as I load up a map, it dies:

Are you trying to run this on a Mac, by chance?
If so, where did you get your Wine installation?
