That would be perfect - but it is usually not required - try something like this: While in freshly compiled wine directory type in console: ./wine start /Unix /path/to/the/program/you/want/to/test.exe or WINEPREFIX=/path/to/prefix/you/use ./wine start /Unix /path/to/the/program/you/want/to/test.exe And look for the bug - then follow the guide at wiki.
