I'm setting up my computer from scratch with a fresh install of Xubuntu 9.10 and Wine 1.1.31, if I remember right. I installed Sid Meier's Pirates! and it opened and ran flawlessly. Then I went an installed some other things, and now when I try to open it, it gives this error: Unable to initialize DirectX. View the readme file for possible solutions to this error. This is incredibly frustrating! This happened on my previous setup when I installed Wine-Doors, and I couldn't make it go away. So I formatted my hard drive and started over from scratch, and now I'm stuck with the same issue again. :x Here's the result of a trace when opening the game.
