If you are using SSH with PuTTY, you can use the command-line ssh client with the -D option to create a socks proxy for port-forwarding... (I' not sure of an alternative to FreeCAPs, but I'm sure something exists... (It would have been quite nice if Wine supported socks proxies for ALL TCP networking under Wine...))
