Thanks for the reply. The snapman.sys was from an install of Acronis which didn't work anyway. I renamed my .wine and reinstalled office and tried running the sp3 update again.
This time it seemed to install but when I checked the version number of word and excel they were both still the original version and have not actually been updated despite the installer appearing to run properly.
I reran it with output to a text file and have put it below. There seem to be errors about missing dlls. Can I add these manually somehow?
