First of all, use winetricks to get mfc42 (thanks to Rico). Then copy all of the NCSS files to a directory in the wine folder just so I am not trying to mess with a CD. run through the setup again and get the same error message....... however. Now the screen goes further and asks for a serial number. Give it mine and the program now opens. Try to start the program with a dive into the NCSS directory under drive_c/Program Files/NCSS2007/ and then typing wine NCSS2007.exe. NCSS now starts The praphics on the screen are very very distorted (probalby due to the hundreds of lines with the following message) fixme:ole:OLEPictureImpl_Render Not quite correct implementation of rendering icons... fixme:ole:OLEPictureImpl_Render Not quite correct implementation of rendering icons... but it does run.
