Re: Wine on OpenBSD

Greetings:

I'm an OBSD n00b and an ex-Fedora User.

Had my share of problems with Wine on OBSD myself.

I was able to build and install after obtaining the source using git; but there seems to be some other memory allocation problems. OBSD has version 0.9.9 in their directories, and the Openports.se has designated 1.1.21? as being on their tree; but I'd rather not regress to those releases, since the supporting pkgs may be needed elsewhere.

Put a bug report [Bug 19987] Wine 1.1.29 on OpenBSD4.6 - "Successful Build"; but Dynamic Loader Failure (which is most likely a continuation of [Bug 16666] wine segfaults on launch on OpenBSD).

Think I suggested this elsewhere; but what do you Gents think about getting OpenBSD/Undeadly/Daemonforums to open up forum/wiki/mail distro(e.g., ports/pkgs mailing list) "Topic threads" so the programmers can start trading hack notes?

Figure the wine pkg(http://openports.se/emulators/wine)'s maintainer (ariane@xxxxxxxx)
would be a good choice for a POC. Putting it on the forums may get more people on each camp to try it, since IMHO, access to "current" Flash and other popular proprietary multimedia is essential on recruiting more linux users/programmers/Other IT types to try/buy both OBSD and WINE.

Regards
