I should have checked bugzilla sooner--turns out this is a known bug: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13129 The bug report mentions changing a registry key as a workaround. Try that. What version of Wine are you using? If it's recent, you should add a comment to the bug report noting that this is still a problem.
