Hard to tell, as you didn't say what dlls the app uses. Try run the app with WINEDEBUG=+loaddll wine game.exe Then you'll see what dlls the app tries to load. Possible overrides (if they are used by the app might be) msacm32.dll msacm32.drv msacm.dll. Don't override winmm.dll, that won't work. BTW, did you try changing the sound configuration settings in winecfg (ALSA <->OSS). Fiddling around with those setting might give a better chance to solve the problem.
