First, your version of Wine is over a year old. Upgrade. 

Second, the problem you describe (being thrown back to the login screen) is X restarting, which is usually caused by buggy graphics drivers. It is a problem with your system, not Wine per se. Ask on the Ubuntu forum what to do about it.
