I had installed gdiplus from winetricks but I see now that there was another one in my system32 directory. I moved that one leaving just the gdiplus from winetricks, and ran:

It almost seems like it has trouble registering the dll. Anyway I then ran Photomatix overriding gdiplus again and it still failed with the AccessViolationException.
