64-bit support will take a while (read a year or even more). A lot of code needs to be fixed and extended to 64-bit. In order to run 32-bit apps a 64-bit windows system just ships 32-bit windows dlls. We plan to have one wineserver which can be used by BOTH 32-bit and 64-bit wine clients (this is needed for instance to share data between 32-bit and 64-bit windows programs). In the end you will need both 32-bit and 64-bit wine libraries and of course 32-bit linux libraries. The 32-bit linux libraries can't be avoided.
