I had this problem as well. Turning off the setting to display the location of the mouse by hittin ctrl solved it. System->Preferences->Mouse 'Show position of pointer when Control Key ins pressed' You know thi sis enabled if you see a circles around the pointer when you hit ctrl. Turning it off enabled the ctrl key in EVE. Rcriii
