Thanks for all the help, with your suggestions problem is fixed. I followed your directions for loading the new Nvidia driver that way edgar_rice, worked like a charm. When I booted back in X everything worked. /me stares at the 12 pending updates to Fedora wondering if they're gonna hose me again. Thanks everyone!
