So if I understand correctly, printing in Wine suddenly stopped working even before you upgraded to 1.1.12? Rename ~/.wine, then run wine notepad (a new ~/.wine will automatically be created) and try to print. If you can, then something you installed in the old wineprefix borked the settings.
