If it's older than 1.1.1, upgrade. 2. You say you "read the sticky on top and tried some of the things some people did." Was disabling/removing Pulseaudio one of the things you tried? If not, try that. If you're running 1.1.1 or later, have completely disabled Pulseaudio, and still can't install, run the installer from a terminal and post console output.
