How odd, after restarting Ubuntu I started up winecfg again. Out of sheer boredom I enabled dsound to native (windows) and voila! Did I have to restart to get ALSA to be recognized as the sound driver? Or did I just screw something up like the rest of the people that got dsound to work natively? I don't know what to say, so I'll just say thanks for all the help. I'm still in awe...
