In particular - if you're on NTFS, this is usually because you're
trying to run something on a Windows partition directly from Wine.
This is a bad idea - Wine can't access the Windows registry for that
installation of Windows, and Wine has its own ideas on what to do with
files, registry, etc. that aren't the same as what Windows wants to
do, and can mess up your Windows as well as not working properly in
Wine. You should always try to install apps in Wine itself.
