I have not uninstalled or disabled compiz, for I have not found a single trace of it in my system, no mention on the running processes or installed programs. Of course I can be wrong, or unable to look at a correct place. As I understood it, compiz is some sort of system to create visual effects for ubuntu? I for one have such a poor graphics card (integrated SiS card) that can do no visual effects, so all of them are disabled.
