I think the MS Office emphasis, such as it is, is because it's a friggin' popular app. If you look at the surveys, it's consistently way high up. e.g. http://wiki.winehq.org/LinuxApplicatonRequestSurvey shows it in the top 5 (maybe even top 1 depending on how you count). And you can see that Microsoft Office generates more search queries these days than does Bioshock: http://www.google.com/trends?q=photoshop%2C+bioshock%2CMicrosoft+Office&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 Sales figures probably bear this out, too. OpenOffice may be a good substitute, but there is a world of people out there WHO. WILL. NOT. ACCEPT. ANY. CHANGES. in their tools. I've run into it many times myself. (And yes, these same people happily accept Office 2007. Go figure. I think they just feel safe with Microsoft.) And I personally often find files that OpenOffice doesn't handle properly. (Yes, I've filed bugs for them, and they're slowly getting fixed.) So that's the story. It might not be pleasant for you, but I think that's the way it is. - Dan
