Usually where links are being created in one version of Wine and not of the other it's a sign that the installation did not complete properly. I usually use the console to directly launch the program and when it had been opened, Gnome is creating a Link under a new group named "program files" (and not Wine) if the program had been installed there. Links used by Gnome are usually found under .config/menus/applications merged and .local/share/applications (under Suse)
