Is it possible that your monitor does not support the resolution
Starctaft is trying to set itself at? I know it is an older game, and is
probably either 640x480 or 800x600 by default. Can you trying having the
game run in a window and see if it starts for you?

it was on windows. now im trying it on ubuntu feisty, with wine
installed. starcraft installed amazingly fast, but when i started it up,
its as if the computer was giving no visual output, and the monitor
itself gave me an error message. basicly i could still hear the
starcraft music in the background, but i couldnt see a thing. the only
way to get out of this was to restart my computer manually :/

My son has run Starcraft here numerous times under Wine but not the
newer releases. We've not seen this problem. We have had a few
problems with audio and networking. I'll try installing this in the
next day and get back with what happens.

It might be helpful if you provided more system hardware info. What
graphics chip/driver are you using? Any other info you want to provide
would be welcomed.

Cheers,
Mark
