Apparently a PHP problem http://php.net/manual/en/function.stream-get-contents.php#69229 "the "max length" parameter seems to act more as an exact length parameter, as the stream will block indefinitely until max length is reached" fclose on the "other side", which in this case was wine, didn't work.
