	I have Debian Etch too (on quad-core processor) and have no i386 chroot at all. You just need to install package with WINE for your distro (see http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb and http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html ) or compile it from source (don't forget to run ./configure --verbose first, you may also read http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit ). Of course you need 32-bit compatibility libraries - 64-bit Debian Etch have them in its repository.
