I upgraded wine to 0.9.36, and that solved the java problem, it seems.

However, other problems surfaced:

Problem 1
I installed the Encyclopedia Britannica from CD #1, and it runs; however, the fonts are screwed up.
Here is a snapshot of the window, bearing the weird fonts: http://www.flight.us/misc/crazy_font_britannica.jpg

Problem 2
CD #3, "English Composition I & II", installed seemingly OK. However, it does not run, giving this error:

err:module:import_dll Library MaestroWinReg.dll (which is needed by L"Z:\\mnt\\cdrom\\Launcher.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\\mnt\\cdrom\\Launcher.exe" failed, status c0000135

I searched for "MaestroWinReg.dll" and it doesn't seem to be on my hard drive.

(Quasi-)Problem 3
Trying to install CD #5 (Mathematics), i get:

libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher version must be installed prior to installing Microsoft .NET Framework. Please install Internet Explorer 5.01 and then run setup again.

Is it fairly easy to install IExplorer? Given Microsoft's measures to control installation processes remotely, verify OS license, etc.?

Thanks!
Andrew
